Description

The 2nd Base Sweater continues the playful spirit of my previous design, Flørt, and is named accordingly. The sweater has a lively character with a mix of cable structures and classic details. With its defined waist and unconventional construction, it stands out, while the traditional cables and soft yarn quality provide a comforting sense of familiarity.

The sweater is knitted in Suri and Myk Norwegian Lambswool in 3037 Ice Blue and 1037 Ice Blue.

The sweater is pictured in size M.

Construction

Apart from the ribbing at the sleeves and waist, this garment is worked in one piece. That means the full width of the project includes both sleeves and body. It is worked flat: first the front piece from the bottom up to the neckline, then each shoulder is worked separately before continuing down the back. Next, stitches are picked up around the neckline and worked flat in a combination of cables, ribbing, and a button band. After that, the lower stitches of the front and back are seamed together, creating an open split at the bottom of the body that can be adjusted to suit your silhouette. Stitches are then picked up around this opening, and a ribbed waistband is worked to define the waist. Finally, stitches are picked up to knit the ribbing on each sleeve.
